The Saga begins..! DEVDAS, probably the most popular character in Indian literature was written in 1930 by Sarat Chandra. If there is one character that most of the Indian population knows in this world, it would be Devdas. Devdas has also been mentioned in many Indian Films in some way of form. I believe there are two character that every Indian can identify. One is DEVDAS and the other is ASOKA, its no coincidence that Shahrukh Khan has played both these character. Once again, like in Asoka, Shahrukh excels in this film. I really love both these characters, in a way I think I can relate to both Asoka and Devdas. The charaters are very similar, yet very different, both have an enormous amount of love to give, but neither get their love returned. Both characters have a crazy side to them and yet you can't help but love these characters. Enough with the comparisons, now lets talk about DEVDAS. Devdas is "A Grand Saga of timeless love". A story that everyone can relate to and feel. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done an excellent job with this film. Very few people understand the life of a film director, I'm sure Sanjay Bhansali had many sleepless nights for the 2 1/2 years it took to complete this film. But at the same time, he must be congratulated for bringing us a film that puts a smile on your face just thinking about the effort that went into it. For example, the sets of the film are mind blowing. I have never seen movie sets as beautiful as these. The Art Direction in the film is just amazing. The costumes boggle the mind, they are gorgeous. The cinematography is excellent. The choreography is very eye pleasing and the dialogues are very fresh. On the whole, the film is very sound in all the technical departments. The Actor all give very good performances. Shahrukh is excellent, Madhuri Dixit is beautiful and brilliant. But it's Aishwarya Rai who takes you breath away and steals the show. Her performance is sure to get her many awards and accolades. The music of Ismail Darbar deserves a special mention, it is the music which is the soul of this film, it makes the story come alive. Sanjay Bhansali has done an excellent job with this film. It is definetly his best work so far. On the whole, a must see film. You must see it on the big screen at least once for the sheer beauty of the film. You will not be disappointed! A must have! Watch it!

i think that it is one of the very best cinema i have ever seen. Being a student filmmaker i think it has the best cinematography with an outstanding art direction. so, for all those veiwers who are looking for some quality film, this ones for you. TRUST ME.

Too much and too dramatic, wasn't believable at all.
The only credit i give is cinematography.
Watch the old Devdas with Dilip kumar then you'll see a classic!!
